Prescription Drug Abuse Directly Tied To Property Crime Increases ...

dPrescription drugs are rising up as one of the forerunners of abused drugs. People who use these drugs are exhibiting the same problems mentally and socially as users of hard drugs.

Local crimes, such as burglaries and vandalism, are increasing due to prescription drug abusers. Police are warning people to be aware of suspicious behavior that is associated with break- ins and to notify them immediately even if they are unsure of the nature of the behavior.

?Problems With Prescription Use

Prescription drugs seem to have become more popular these days. One could speculate that because prescription drugs have been approved as safe the risk associated with taking them is lower than previous street drugs.

But when prescription drugs are abused they are not safe. Prescription drug side effects include:

  • Change in behavior
  • Mood swings
  • Panic attacks
  • Anger
  • Insomnia
  • Hallucinations
  • Heart irregularities
  • Vomiting
  • Suicidal thoughts

Those who receive prescription drugs under medical supervision can still cause problems. Doctors are well aware of these problems and should know what to look for as well as what actions those symptoms demand.

For instance, one can be prescribed these drugs for depression but can then experience a worsening of depression or suddenly turn on other disorders not previously exhibited.

Prescription drugs, just like any other drugs, can become habits after a very short period of time. When the user tries to come off of a drug, they will mostly experience withdrawal symptoms.

These have been reported to include:

  • Nausea
  • Anxiety
  • Insomnia
  • Inability to focus
  • Suicidal thoughts
  • Extreme mood swings

Someone taking a prescription drug either prescribed from a doctor or bought on the black market would be extremely challenged to continue to live a normal life while under the effects of the drug. It would require much stamina to survive such an ordeal. When you consider that most people who have been prescribed a drug are having difficulty to begin with it?s a risky gamble to prescribe at all.

What about those who are not prescribed a drug but are obtaining it illegally from friends or buying it from dealers? Children as young as the eighth grade and adults both young and old have been found to take these prescription drugs. College students report using them to help stay up all night to study, while teens report having parties where everyone takes an unknown drug just for fun.

The problem that our society is faced with is that because these drugs are approved for use, people consider them safe. If you do the research to find the pros and cons of using them, you will invariably see the risks far outweigh any of the benefits. In many cases, a simple vitamin and exercise program will bring a person up out of their depression and help them cope with life better.

After completing thorough research by speaking to others who have experienced prescription drugs, many turn to natural means of dealing with their problems.

Everyone needs to take responsibility for their own well-being and seek out the resources necessary to make a change in their life and help themselves out of their situation. There are many other solutions that one could try, and to do otherwise is not only a disservice to yourself, but also to your friends and family who will also suffer.
