Texans roll over Titans

HOUSTON (AP) - The Texans have always been known for their prolific offense under Gary Kubiak. Now, Houston has a defense capable of making just as many plays, and the formula has the team off to its best start ever.

Danieal Manning and Kareem Jackson returned interceptions for touchdowns, and Matt Schaub threw two TD passes in Houston's 38-14 win over the Tennessee Titans on Sunday.

Arian Foster also had a touchdown run for Houston (4-0). Even though the Texans were outgained 325-297 by the Titans (1-3), they broke open a close game after halftime.

"We really played great defense, the whole second half," Kubiak said. "The defensive play in the second was what got us going, the big play."

Houston's offense ranked among the NFL's top-5 from 2007-11, but the team didn't win its first division title until after Wade Phillips became the defensive coordinator before last season.

The Texans ranked second in total defense coming into Sunday's game, and came out hitting.

Titans quarterback Jake Locker left in the first quarter and didn't return after hurting his left, non-throwing shoulder on a hit by Glover Quin. Locker hurt the same shoulder in the season opener against New England.

Matt Hasselbeck threw two touchdown passes in relief of Locker. Tennessee coach Mike Munchak said Locker was "sore" and would undergo an MRI exam Monday.

Chris Johnson carried 25 times for 141 yards, more than tripling his rushing total through the first three games.

"It was a pretty good game," Johnson said. "We ran the ball. I felt like my offensive line went out there and did a great job from the first snap, just getting up on guys, pushing those guys back, and just giving me somewhere to run."

The Texans led 14-7 at halftime, but their offense bogged down for a while after that. Houston mustered only two first downs in the second quarter, and went three-and-out on the first series of the third quarter.

Leave it to Houston's defense to get the Texans going again.

Hasselbeck threw behind tight end Taylor Thompson, and the ball ricocheted to Manning, who weaved 55 yards for a touchdown. Manning's play not only reignited the restless fans at Reliant Stadium, it also seemed to wake up the offense.

"It's a nice luxury to have, when you see them make those turnovers," Schaub said. "It creates such a lift for us."

The Texans went without a huddle and breezed down the field in just over two minutes. Foster broke a 16-yard run, and Schaub threw a 28-yard touchdown pass to tight end Owen Daniels.

Down 28-7, the Titans were forced to throw more despite Johnson's best game of the season. Johnson came in with only 45 yards rushing on 33 carries through the first three games.

Hasselbeck fumbled when he was hit by Antonio Smith in the fourth quarter, and J.J. Watt recovered at the Tennessee 24. Shayne Graham kicked a 33-yard field goal with 5:38 left.

Tennessee crossed midfield, and Jackson intercepted Hasselbeck and raced untouched to the end zone, high-stepping the last 10 yards.

Hasselbeck threw a short TD pass to Wright in the final minute. He finished 17 of 25 for 193 yards.

"It's frustrating because I feel like we're not that far away," Hasselbeck said. "But we didn't play great and we had turnovers and I was a part of three of them. It's just frustrating because I know we're capable of a lot more."

The Texans led 7-0 when Locker was hurt on the Titans' second series. On third down, Quin blitzed and plowed into Locker for his first career sack. Locker immediately grabbed his left hand and arm as he was down on the turf. He walked to the locker room on his own, and later returned in street clothes, his left arm in a sling.

Houston took over near midfield and converted a fourth-and-1 from the Tennessee 38. Foster scored on a 4-yard run.

Hasselbeck, in his first action since the opener, threw a 25-yard pass to tight end Jared Cook. The Texans smothered Johnson for a 6-yard loss to force another punt for Tennessee.

Johnson later broke a 19-yard run and the Titans' offense showed some life with Hasselbeck taking the snaps. Hasselbeck found fullback Craig Stevens for a 19-yard touchdown with 7:52 left in the first half.

Johnson limped off the field late in the first half, after he was tackled by linebackers Brian Cushing and Connor Barwin. He returned for the Titans' first series of the third quarter.

Notes: Watt has 7 1/2 sacks this season. ... The Texans topped 30 points for the third time in four games. ... Graham reached 1,000 career points. ... Texans RG Antoine Caldwell left in the second quarter with a sprained right ankle. ... Titans LB Patrick Bailey, a special-teams player, injured his left hand and stayed in the game. Munchak said he would be re-evaluated on Monday. ... Johnson earned his 29th career 100-yard game.

Mozambique rulers celebrate Marxist roots, in style

PEMBA, Mozambique (Reuters) - It was billed as a celebration of its socialist revolution, but when Mozambique's ruling Frelimo party marked its 50th birthday this week, Marx came a distant second to Money.

Reflecting their anti-colonial, revolutionary roots, Frelimo leaders pointedly chose a venue in the untamed corner of southern Africa where half a century ago guerrillas launched the uprising that would lead to independence from Portugal in 1975.

But beyond the symbolism of the location, in the northern province of Cabo Delgado, the obligatory use of "Comrade" and the AK-47 rifle that still adorns the national flag, everything at the party congress pointed to the huge wealth accruing to the political elite in the fast-growing energy producer.

The venue itself was a lavish complex of VIP reception rooms and cavernous dining areas, set amid a village of apartment units, two on-site banks and a hospital clinic for 2,000 guests.

Just to the north lies the Rovuma Basin, where U.S. energy firm Anadarko and Italy's Eni are exploring some of the world's biggest untapped natural gas reserves - an estimated 130 trillion cubic feet, or enough to supply Western Europe for over a decade.

To some of Mozambique's 23 million people, the talk of "revolutionary war" by Frelimo leader and President Armando Guebuza - known as "Mr. Guebusiness" on account of his huge commercial interests - rings hollow.

"It is absurd to spend $8 million on a week-long conference when people are starving a block away," said Rudiger Franck, a hotel owner and Frelimo party member in Pemba, the run-down seaside town that hosted the seven-day jamboree.

"It gives the impression that the party has lost touch with the reality of life for most of its members."

MINING BOOM

Under its first president, U.S.-educated sociologist Eduardo Mondlane, Frelimo struck out on a Marxist course until 1990 when, tired from civil war and under growing pressure from the West, it renounced socialism.

In the last decade, mostly under Guebuza, Mozambique has become a hotbed of foreign mining investment that has lifted economic growth to 7 percent a year and in 2011 made its currency the strongest performer against the dollar.

Brazil's Vale , for instance, has poured $2 billion into a coal mine in the northwestern region of Moatize and plans to invest $6.4 billion in the years to come.

Frelimo says all Mozambicans stand to benefit, yet in a country where the average person scrapes by on $400 a year, the opulence of its congress sends a conflicting message.

"This money never reaches the people. It remains in Frelimo's pocket," said Mustagibo Bachir, a Cabo Delgado member of parliament for Renamo, Frelimo's foe during a 16-year post-independence civil war.

Bachir sees a worrying precedent in the handling of the ruby and timber sectors in the north, which remains one of the country's poorest regions.

"Our people still don't have access to water, food or jobs," he said.

Besides Renamo, Frelimo is also facing opposition from the upstart Mozambican Democratic Movement (MDM), run by the 48-year-old mayor of Beira, Mozambique's second city with a population of half a million people.

Analysts say elections due in 2014 are too soon for MDM to make serious headway, but point to its popularity with young, educated and unemployed Mozambicans as a sign that it could become a force to be reckoned with later in the decade.

31 Surprisingly Delicious High-Fiber Snacks | Greatist

31 Delicious High-Fiber Snacks

It helps keep things moving smoothly (you know what we mean), it can lower our risk for diabetes and heart disease, and it keeps us fuller, longer. What is this magic stuff? ?Dietary fiber! It?s essential to our diets, plus a high fiber nibble can buy us time before the next meal hits the kitchen table. Here are 31 of our favorite fiber-packed snacks ? one for every day of the month. We opted for snacks with at least five grams of fiber (20 percent of the daily recommended value) to tide you over. Instead of turning to chalky store-bought high-fiber bars, try out some of these tastier choices.

1. Orange Spinach Smoothie
This tasty treat goes down easy while sneaking in tons of fruits and veggies. Toss 1 large orange (peeled and separated), ? a large banana, 1 handful of strawberries, 2 cups of spinach, 1/3 cup of plain Greek yogurt, and 1 cup of ice into a blender. Store any leftovers in the freezer for tomorrow (pro tip: Pour the leftovers in ice cube trays for easier blending).

2. Raspberry Cream Cheese Toast
Toast 1 slice of whole-grain bread, spread with 1 to 2 tablespoons of low-fat cream cheese, and top with ? cup of raspberries (1 cup of raspberries has eight grams of fiber, so feel free to add a few extra, or snack on another handful while making the toast).

3. Mediterranean Artichokes
Strain 1 6-ounce jar of artichokes to remove all liquid. Snack on them as-is, or get fancy by topping with 1 tablespoon of feta, a squeeze of lemon juice, a little olive oil, and some cracked pepper. This six-ounce (or ? cup) serving of the hearts (the center portion of an artichoke) has more than seven grams of fiber. Plus, they?re a rich source of vitamin C. (We won?t tell anyone if you stick a fork in the jar.)

4. Enlightened Bars
These healthier ice cream bars aren?t just low in calories ? they actually have some impressive nutritional stats: Eight grams of protein, no artificial sweetener, only three grams of sugar, and five grams of fiber per bar. Plus, these smooth and creamy treats come in coffee, fudge, and orange cream flavors. At Greatist HQ, the favorite?s a tie between coffee and fudge. (I vote coffee!)

5. Maple n? Oat Stuffed Apple
This snack is not only tasty ? it?s lovely to look at, too. Boil 1 cup of steel cut oats in 4 cups of water. Stir in a pinch of cinnamon and nutmeg, and a drizzle of maple syrup, and turn the heat to low while the oats cook (covered) for 20 minutes. Serve in a hollowed apple (we like ?em overflowing). If it?s too tough to eat raw, microwave the cored apple for a minute, and then fill it up. Or, if time?s on your side, stuff the apples with oatmeal and then bake for 20 to 30 minutes until the apple is tender.

Spicy Sweet Potato Wedges

6. Sweet Potato Fries
This one is easy as pie. (Sweet potato pie, that is.) Cut a sweet potato lengthwise, and toss the orange-hued wedges in oil, and spices for a new take on a hamburger?s BFF.?Shhh, it?s a secret: A medium sweet potato has more potassium than a banana and five grams of fiber.

7. Pears and Cottage Cheese
Core a pear and slice in half top to bottom. Scoop low-fat cottage cheese on top of the pear and sprinkle with cinnamon or poppy seeds. One medium pear touts six grams of protein.

8. Edamame Hummus
A new take on hummus, this spread adds some color and fiber to your dipping delight. Bring a pot of water to a boil, and toss in 2 cups of frozen edamame (16 whopping grams of fiber!). Boil for three minutes, remove from heat, and drain. Combine edamame, 3 cloves of garlic, 6 tablespoons of olive oil, a pinch of salt, cumin, paprika, cayenne, and a squeeze of lemon in a food processor. Blend until smooth. Serve with toasted pita bread or sliced veggies like carrots and cukes.

9. Pumpkin Yogurt Dip
Pumpkin, a superfood?rich in beta carotene (essential for skin and eye health) is an easy and tasty way to sneak in some fiber, especially when it?s from a can. Mix together ? cup of canned pumpkin puree, ? cup of non-fat plain Greek yogurt, 1 teaspoon of honey, ? teaspoon of vanilla, and a good helping of cinnamon and nutmeg (or pumpkin spice if you?re feeling fancy). Spoon it straight or use as a dip with graham crackers or apple slices. (Note: Make sure to use plain pureed pumpkin, not pumpkin pie filling, which is loaded with sugar and salt.)

10. Quinoa Pizza Bites
These simple nuggets are full of flavor. Fresh basil and tomato paste make them really taste like pizza. The key fiber-filled ingredients, quinoa and kidney beans, also make for a stellar protein-packed snack. Protein powerhouse quinoa is one of the only grains or seeds that provide all the essential amino acids our bodies can?t produce themselves!

11. Rice Cake with Almond Butter and Pumpkin Seeds
For a snack with some crunch, schmear 1 brown rice cake with 2 tablespoons almond butter. (Get this: almond butter beats peanut butter when it comes to fiber, iron, and vitamin E.) For even more crunch (and fiber), sprinkle 1 tablespoon pumpkin seeds on top. The little green seeds are a super rich source of magnesium, which is especially good for strong bones. Extra bonus: Just half a cup of pumpkin seeds has about 14 grams of protein.

Berry Oatmeal Breakfast

12. Banana Berry Oats
For quick microwave oatmeal, mix ? cup rolled oats and a dash of cinnamon in a microwave-safe bowl. Stir in ? cup of water and microwave for one minute. Remove the bowl, add ? a banana (sliced), and cook for another minute. Stir in 3 to 4 tablespoons of low fat milk or vanilla almond milk, and top with ? to 1 cup sliced strawberries, blackberries, and other berries of choice. While all fruit helps out in the fiber department, berries are especially good sources ? raspberries and blackberries have eight grams per cup.

13. Chocolate Bran Crunchies
For a seriously fiber-filled snack, grab a box of bran cereal, which has 10 grams of fiber per ? cup serving. Combine 1 cup of bran cereal with ? cup of slivered almonds, and 4 ounces (3 to 4 squares, depending on the bar) of melted dark chocolate (melt in a microwave in 20 second intervals until smooth). Spoon tablespoon-sized mounds of the chocolately delicousness onto a parchment-lined baking sheet and pop it in the freezer for 15 to 30 minutes to set.

14. Spiced Flax Balls
These balls get the fiber benefits of flax (five grams per tablespoon) plus their omega 3s.?Pulse 1 cup of almonds in a food processor until finely chopped. Add ? cup of ground flax seeds, ? cup of dates, ? cup of raisins, ? cup of chopped dried apricots, ? cup of shredded coconut, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, and a pinch of nutmeg and ground ginger. Pulse the mixture until it sticks (you may want to add a teaspoon or two of water). Roll the dough into walnut-sized balls, then cover in cling wrap and refrigerate. Enjoy!

15. Blackberry Basil Popsicles
Toss 1 ? cups of fresh blackberries (one of the highest fiber contents of any fruit), 1 handful of fresh basil, ? cup of honey, and the juice of one lemon into a food processor or blender. Puree the ingredients until well combined (strain out the seeds if you?d like it smooth). Add the mixture to popsicle molds or small paper cups, and freeze for at least eight hours. For extra big kid fun, pour the mixture into ice cube molds and add them to blackberry margaritas or a mojito for an icy, antioxidant-filled treat.

16. Feta-Stuffed Prunes
Grandma was right: Prunes can get you back on track. The dried plums (once you get over the stereotype of them being an ?old people food?) are really sweet and delicious. Plus, prunes have an insane amount of fiber (12 grams for 1 cup). Eat them as is, or cut a small opening and stuff some feta or blue cheese in the center for a quick sweet-n?-savory bite. Bonus: Prunes are considered the epitome of a functional food(which means they?re really good at promoting health!)[].

17. Chocolate Bean Butter
For a no-fuss sweet (but healthy!) snack, try out this chocolate spread. Combine 1 can of white kidney beans, 5 tablespoons of unsweetened cocoa powder, ? teaspoon of stevia powder (or sweetener of your choice), a pinch of sea salt, 3 tablespoons of coconut oil, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract in a blender or food processor and pulse until smooth (adding a splash of water or almond milk if it?s too dry). Spread onto a brown rice cake or use as a dip for sliced fruit. We know chocolatecan lower blood pressure but adding beans to the mix effectively pumps a healthy dose of fiber to the mix (6 grams for ? a cup!)[].

18. Buffalo Wing Hummus
Seriously, this is a real thing. It?s all the deliciousness of the Super Bowl, minus all the not-so-good stuff. Blend 2 cans of chickpeas, 2 to 3 cloves of garlic, ? cup of tahini, ? cup of lemon juice, 1 ? teaspoons paprika, 3 tablespoons wing sauce, 2 tablespoons hot sauce, 1 tablespoon white vinegar, and a pinch of kosher salt. Puree until smooth and dip-able, and enjoy with celery and carrot sticks (or by itself?). The beans up the fiber content to a dip that usually gets its base from a fatty dairy source.

Kale Chips

19. Kale Chips
We?ll be honest here: These guys definitely don?t taste exactly like potato chips. But if you?re looking for a healthier (or more chic) way to crunch, kale chips are it. Preheat oven to 375. Rinse and dry 1 large bunch of kale, then remove the stems and tough center ribs. Rip the kale into large pieces, toss with a little olive oil, then sprinkle with some salt and pepper. Arrange in a single layer on a large parchment lined baking sheet (careful not to overlap). Bake until crisp, about 10 to 15 minutes, checking frequently (they can burn easily!).

20. Lentil Trail Mix
We did tell you trail mix can be a dangerfood. However, we?re about to give you a healthier option for this munchable snack, plus it?s pretty (and vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free, sugar-free, and grain-free!).? Bake 1 cup of red lentils in a 350 degree oven on a baking sheet (after sprinkled with a touch of salt) for 30 to 35 minutes, or until they are crunchy. Chop up ? cup dried apricots and pineapple, and toss the little chunks in rice flour to take away the stickiness. Combine lentils, fruit, ? cup of pumpkin seeds, ? cup of sunflower seeds, and ? cup of dried cranberries, and munch away.

21. Banana in A Sweater
This easy-to-whip-together snack gets its fiber from superfoods flaxseed, chia, and oats. In a small bowl mix 1 teaspoon of honey with 2 tablespoons of a nut butter of choice (peanut and almond tend to be our favorites, but for a different taste and texture, try pecan butter, cashew butter, or walnut butter). In a shallow bowl, mix 1 tablespoon of oats, ? tablespoon of chia seeds, ? tablespoon of ground flaxseed, and ? teaspoon of cinnamon. Coat a peeled banana with the nut mixture (it?ll be easier if the banana is cut in half), then roll it in the dry mixture. While the banana serves as a carrier for all the tasty toppings, it adds three grams of fiber, too.

22. Chocolate Peanut Butter Balls
Considering my love affair with chocolate and peanut butter as separate entities, a combo of the two really knocks it out of the park. Plus, these snack bites are actually healthy and you only need three ingredients to make ?em. Mix 3 scoops of chocolate protein powder, ? cup of ground flax seed, and ? cup of peanut butter (look for the unsalted variety). Form the mixture into small balls and pop in the freezer to set before eating.

23. Banana Chocolate Chip Quinoa Bake
The very best thing about this recipe is that it takes only five minutes to make. Grease a microwave safe dish (try coconut or vegetable oil on a piece of paper towel for a light coating). In a small bowl, mix 1/3 of a medium banana (mashed), ? cup of egg whites, ? cup of quinoa flakes (the flake version of the superfood grain), 1 tablespoon of chocolate chips, 1 tablespoon of chopped pecans, and a pinch each of cinnamon and nutmeg. Pour the mix into the dish, and even out with a fork until it reaches all of the edges. Pop it in the microwave for two and a half minutes. Let it cool and enjoy!

24. Chocolate Crunch Mix
This is the ultimate homemade Chex mix. Combine 1 cup of Chex cereal, 1 cup of pretzel sticks broken in half, and ? cup of roasted almonds. Drizzle with 3 tablespoons of melted dark chocolate (to melt: microwave for one minute, stir, and continue heating in 20 second intervals until completely melted). Spread the mixture on a wax paper-lined baking sheet and refrigerate until the chocolate sets. For a little extra fiber, sprinkle in some sesame seeds.

Spicy Roasted Chickpeas

25. Spicy Roasted Chickpeas
Crunchy roasted chickpeas are becoming pretty popular at grocery stores, but they can bare a hefty price tag. These chickpeas are a heckuva lot cheaper, easy to make, and have a kick to them. Drain and rinse 1 can of chickpeas and add to a bowl. Add 1 tablespoon of olive oil, ? teaspoon of salt, and ? teaspoon of cayenne pepper and toss to coat. Arrange in a single layer on a foil-lined baking sheet and bake for about 15 minutes at 450 degrees. Take them out and shake ?em around before returning to the oven for another 15 minutes, or until the chickpeas are brown and crunchy. Just half a cup of the little guys provides six grams of fiber and six grams of protein.

26. Pumpkin Spice Smoothie
Combine 1 cup of pumpkin puree, 1 tablespoon of honey, 1 frozen banana, 1 cup of unsweetened soy milk or almond milk, 2 tablespoons of ground flax seed, and a ? teaspoon each of cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and cardamom (pumpkin spice works too). Aside from shelling out fiber, pumpkin is a great source of vitamin A, which is key for healthy eyes and also helps maintain heart, lung, and kidney health.

27. Fig and PB Dough Balls
Each of these dough hunks has four grams of fiber and just 150 calories. Grind ? cup of peanuts in a food processor until it reaches a fine crumb. Add in 2 tablespoons of maple syrup, ? cup of agave, ? cup of oats, 2 tablespoons of peanut butter, ? cup of ground flax seed, ? teaspoon of cinnamon, 2 tablespoons of chia seeds, and 6 dried figs. Pulse until the mixture begins to come together, and then roll into 1-inch balls.

28. Avocado Boat
Cut an avocado in half, and twist it to separate both pieces. Remove the pit, and fill up the hole with salsa and some shredded cheese. Aside from a pretty stellar fiber content (six grams for just half of a medium one), avocados are a fantastic source of monosaturated fats, which can help improve cholesterol levels, decrease the risk of heart disease, and benefit brain activity.

29. Black Bean Brownies
Brownies with beans? These fudgy squares take on the taste of chocolate way more than the beans ? we promise. The batter forms up quick in a food processor, and doesn?t require a whole lot of prep work. More good news: Sneaking in black beans loads the brownies with fiber, and provides lots of folate, a nutrient that?s necessary to make DNA and RNA, the building blocks of cells.

30. Yellow Split Pea Spread
This spread makes for a colorful alternative to hummus. Dip veggies like broccoli, celery, or cauliflower, or try whole-wheat pita triangles. Veggies, on veggies, on veggies!

31. Popcorn
Popcorn is a whole grain, made from a seed so it can keep you fuller longer than other more calorie-laden snacks. For a budget friendly version, try popping a handful of kernels in a small brown bag in the microwave. Fold the rim of the bag over twice, and lay it horizontally in the microwave. Cook until popping begins to slow but doesn?t stop completely. To jazz up the regular old movie necessity, add fresh herbs like dill or parsley, or try a sweet variety with cinnamon, nutmeg, and honey (microwave it first for a bit to thin it out).

The iPhone has managed to get big in the mobile industry, with its latest releases loaded with the very best of scientific improvements. Because the device and its functions continue to advance at a rapid pace, the programs specific to the iPhone will also be required to keep pace with the features and engineering backed by devices from Apple. App-stores are flooded by applications from a few mobile application builders, both individuals and companies that are constantly in fierce opposition to get favor with the elite iPhone people. The phone itself is quite highly valued and so are the assets that are used to create iPhone applications.iPhone application development is a high priced matter, mostly due to the charge of training and recruiting developers to provide quality software based on changing technology. There are however a few portable software development organizations that are already actively engaged in iPhone application development. Their well-trained methods provide revolutionary product some ideas and help determine appropriate systems that can be used to implement the mandatory operation. These firms also record latest technology and domain specific updates and supply themselves on numerous company views, from interacting with customers to live-testing, driving software progress, maintenance, marketing and distribution of iPhone apps. Requirements are handled by proficient iPhone developers from almost all segments including activities, business (m-commerce), vacation, sports, social networking, press streaming, search and other energy programs. They are also expected to be adept at developing newer programs with active speech, email and GPS services operating on the device. In addition to technology challenges, developers also make certain that the deliverables also ensure to standards published by Apple for the solution to number in the list of iPhone App stores. As early as 2008, Apple launched a software development kit (SDK) to raise as well as standardize iPhone request development, allowing developers to build custom applications for these devices. The SDK relies on the C language and can be used only on the MAC iPhone os. The SDK serves to create extremely sophisticated applications having an built-in development environment, an interface designer to design functional user interfaces and functions that easily blend with the phone?s 3G companies, and an instrument set that allows real-time testing and optimization of iPhone apps.Given the complexity and specific techniques required to create / disperse iPhone applications, outsourcing iPhone software development is destined to be much more cost-effective for business companies looking to foray into this industry. iPhone program progress outsourcing will certainly save money and time spent on establishing infrastructure, teaching builders, and keeping pace with latest trends/guidelines on a normal basis. Every electronics / technology / tip modification or upgrade will effect the development process. iPhone popularity seems to be growing despite its high price, and in turn iPhone app progress too is placed to develop rapidly in 2012. Increasing business demands, use of individual products for corporate / official reasons, multi-tasking and important timelines certainly are a few key elements that drive the use of Smartphone, specifically the iPhone, although leisure and games too, somewhat, influence industry. Distinctive programs that help people to generally meet their needs, and developers/ business properties making them are destined to gain popularity in 2012.

Australia Pacific LNG: Construction on Main ... - LNG World News

Australia Pacific LNG: Construction on Main Pipeline Begins

The first sections of more than 530km of steel pipe were welded together earlier this month approximately 15 km south of Miles, marking the start of construction for the Australia Pacific LNG Project?s main transmission pipeline.

This infrastructure will create a vital link for the Project ? transporting CSG from the gas fields in the Surat and Bowen basins to an LNG facility currently being developed on Curtis Island, off Gladstone.

Two welding crews consisting of 120 people, including welders and construction support staff, will perform automatic welding both internally and externally, joining pipe up to 18 metres in length. The crews will aim to complete up to 2.25km of pipe per day during construction.

Australia Pacific LNG Pipelines Project Manager Graeme Hogarth said the commencement of construction works is a major milestone for the Project and the culmination of almost three years of planning.

?The main transmission pipeline is the third critical component of this major CSG to LNG project and represents a major gear shift in project activity,? Mr Hogarth said.

?We expect construction to take approximately 18 months with the pipeline divided into sections. It normally takes between three and six months for the construction stage of each section of the pipeline.?

The welding and construction crews have commenced welding south of Miles and will continue welding along the pipeline route. Pipe will be transported from various laydown yards between Miles and Callide, near Biloela. Construction is expected to be finished in the first half of 2014.

The Australia Pacific LNG Project is an incorporated joint venture project between Origin, ConocoPhillips and Sinopec that includes development of existing coal seam gas fields in the Surat and Bowen basins and construction of a gas transmission pipeline from the gas fields to an LNG facility to be developed on Curtis Island in Gladstone.

The Project will create approximately 6,000 direct jobs during the peak construction phase which includes the gas fields, gas pipeline and LNG facility. It will also create 1,000 jobs during the operation of the Project.

Computers Are So Easy To Operate There Is - ZapDUDE!

These days hearing a person say I'm just not computer literate will earn them a funny look from just about everyone. Computers have evolved from the archaic scientific calculators that took up most of a room to a simple point-and-click machine that fits on most desks. One theory is that most of today's computer illiterates have not taken the time to experiment with a computer and if given half a chance (or 20 minutes whichever comes first) the most adamant technological caveman will become a junkie wreaking havoc in chatrooms all over the internet.

The skills needed to use a computer today are: manipulating a mouse, punching a few buttons on a keyboard, and knowing how to turn the thing on. Simple right? So let's have some fun and see just how little knowledge these thousand dollar machines actually require.

Let's start with the mouse. Can someone who has never seen a computer before operate it without knowing how to use a mouse? Only if the computer is set up to operate on voice command. Voice command software allows a user to tell the computer exactly what to do and the computer does it. Although this software is fairly new and still under development, voice directed technology has already infiltrates consumer service related systems.

What is a consumer Service related system and how do I know if I have used one? Think back to the last time you tried to pay a bill over the phone. Instead of speaking to a human being, chances are you spoke to a computer that only responded to what you said and offered you options such as press 1 for English. It may have also asked you for additional information such as your full name or credit card number, in which case you have just operated a computer without even realizing it!

Next let's take a look at the keyboard. Can someone who has never seen a computer before operate it without knowing how to use a keyboard? Only if the computer is set up to operate on a touch command. Touch command software allows a user to literally touch the objects on the screen to tell the computer what to do. These types of touch screens are known as kiosks and are already in use worldwide in such places as ATM machines, employment centers and in many health monitoring systems.

For this type of system neither a mouse nor a keyboard is required; a user need only touch the various boxes on the screen to control the computer. The programming behind this technology is extensive and advanced, but for the user the computer becomes less intimidating and just plain easy to use.

Of course when operating a computer there is usually more involvement than just speaking on the phone or touching a screen. The illustrations above are just a couple of examples of the growth of computer technology and how far user friendliness has been pushed. Eventually the keyboard and mouse will have to play a role when a computer newbie has to work with a cash register, a hotel booking program, or a library's catalog system but that doesn't make the computer any easier to operate, but it doesn't make them harder to operate either.

UK's Cameron backs minister in row over "pleb" swipe at police

LONDON (Reuters) - Britain's David Cameron backed a senior minister accused of ranting at policemen in public and calling them "plebs", an old-fashioned insult laden with snobbery that has undermined his party's attempts to shake off its privileged image.

The tirade outside the prime minister's Downing Street office by Andrew Mitchell has embarrassed a Conservative party that is trailing in the polls and struggling to shore up its support at a time of recession, tax increases and spending cuts.

While reports that Mitchell called the officers "morons" were embarrassing, more damaging was the report that he used the word "pleb", a term that is rarely used by a middle or working class person but is soaked in upper class condescension.

The row played into the hands of Conservative critics who think Cameron's centre-right party is run by a rich, lofty group whose policies do little for the majority of voters feeling the pressure of its austerity policies.

Many senior Conservatives are millionaires, educated at Britain's top fee-paying schools and the universities of Oxford and Cambridge.

Rivals mock them as out-of-touch "toffs", the sort of derogatory term that is politically toxic in class-obsessed Britain. A Conservative politician described Cameron and finance minister George Osborne as "arrogant posh boys" in April.

Cameron's spokesman said on Monday it was time to draw a line under the affair after Mitchell apologized again to police, even while denying using the words attributed to him.

"He has acknowledged that that behaviour was unacceptable and the apology has been accepted," the spokesman said. He would not be drawn on Mitchell's choice of words or whether he was accusing the police of not telling the truth.

"Pleb" is derived from a Latin word denoting people outside the aristocratic class in ancient Rome, for example shopkeepers, skilled or unskilled workers and farmers.

"It is old-fashioned language, it is private language. In public it is pretty awful," Peter York, the author and social commentator, told Reuters. "You certainly wouldn't expect any politician to utter it in a remotely public place."

A leaked police report in the top selling Sun newspaper on Monday said Mitchell had lost his temper when police officers refused to open the main Downing Street gates to allow him to cycle through last Wednesday evening.

BADLY TIMED TIRADE

When they asked him to use a pedestrian gate, the report said Mitchell erupted: "Best you learn your fucking place. You don't run this fucking government. You're fucking plebs."

The timing could not have been worse, coming a day after two unarmed policewomen were killed in a gun and grenade attack in Manchester, northern England.

The Conservatives, who have run Britain in a coalition since 2010, are behind the opposition Labor Party before a 2015 election and the Mitchell row could cut further into their public support if it lingers, analysts said.

"They have been remarkably unsuccessful at killing this story," said John Curtice, politics professor at Strathclyde University in Scotland. "That's certainly a problem."

Mitchell, 56, was educated at the prestigious Rugby School, home of one of the most famous literary bullies, Flashman, in the 19th-century novel "Tom Brown's Schooldays" by Thomas Hughes, an Oxford graduate.

Labor leader Ed Miliband, who also went to Oxford, compared Cameron to Flashman last year for his behaviour in parliament.

Mitchell went on to Cambridge University and served in the British Army before joining the Lazard investment bank and working for a management consultancy. Cameron gave him the job of "chief whip", or party enforcer, earlier this month.

Mitchell said he "did not use the words that have been attributed to me", but repeatedly refused to confirm what he did say during an incident dubbed "Gate-gate" by wags on Twitter.

"It had been the end of a long and extremely frustrating day - not that that is any excuse at all for what happened," Mitchell told reporters in the rain outside his office near Downing Street. "I didn't show the police the amount of respect I should have done."

Labour and police groups called for an inquiry into the events at Downing Street.

Although still unconfirmed, the bad language has fed into a perceptions the Conservatives have not shed the "Nasty Party" tag that dogged them under Margaret Thatcher and John Major in the 1980s and 1990s. Cameron has attempted to soften their policies in areas like gay rights and support for the poor.

"There is this perception that ... they are posh, rich people who are out of touch with the lives of ordinary people," said Wyn Grant, politics professor at Warwick University.

"But if the government stands firm on this, it may simply just go away."

Top 10 Secret Features of iOS 6 [Lifehacker Top 10]

Top 10 Secret Features of iOS 6Apple released iOS 6 this week, bringing a handful of new features to iPhones, iPads, and iPod touches. While they defined many of the flagship features, several were left unsaid. These are our 10 favorite secret features in iOS 6.

10. Pull to Refresh

Top 10 Secret Features of iOS 6Pull to refresh is one of the greatest gestures that Apple took next to forever to adopt. iOS 6 finally allows you to pull down to refresh your mail accounts and various other data sources. Ignore the reload button and start swiping down.

9. Tons of New Emoji

Top 10 Secret Features of iOS 6Some people love their emoji?the cute icons you can add to messages, emails, or really anywhere that accepts text in iOS. Apple just added a ton of new options. If you have your emoji keyboard enabled already, you don't have to do anything. If not, you can enable it in the Settings app by going to General -> Keyboard -> Keyboards -> Add New Keyboard. That will bring up a list. Choose Emoji and you're all set.

8. Limit Ad Tracking

Top 10 Secret Features of iOS 6Everyone's trying to track you on the web, and your phone is no different. If you'd rather advertisers not track your activity and serve up targeted ads, iOS 6 lets you turn off tracking with a simple switch. Just head to Settings > General > About > Advertising and flip the switch to On. It may take a little while for you to stop seeing targeted ads, but soon enough your activity should be much more private.

7. Wake Up to a Song

Top 10 Secret Features of iOS 6Apple update the Clock app?which I still hold to be my favorite native app?to give the alarm functionality a boost. No longer do you have to wake up to one of your ringtones. Instead, you can pick any song in your library. You could even make a recording of yourself telling you to wake the hell up, sync it to your iDevice, and open your eyes to a sunny day and your own, obnoxious voice. Or you could just pick a song that you like. Regardless, you now have a choice. That's very much appreciated.

6. Late Night Listening

Top 10 Secret Features of iOS 6Although not available on all devices, newer iPhones and iPads have a new EQ setting: Late Night. This option lowers bass levels and attempts to make your music less-intrusive in the evening so you can listen and fall asleep easily without being distracted by anything too jarring. Why Apple didn't include this option on earlier devices is beyond us, but iOS 6 has shown how much they like to unnecessarily limit their software to keep you from getting off the upgrade treadmill.

5. Only Receive Message Alerts from Your Contacts

Top 10 Secret Features of iOS 6Don't care if you get an iMessage from an unknown source? You don't have to. If you head into the Settings app, then Notifications, then Messages, you can set your alerts to only show up for your contacts. If you don't want to be bothered by people who aren't worth sticking in your contacts?like spam message bots, for example?iOS 6 lets you ignore them.

4. Sync Your Text Expansion Shortcuts Across Devices

Top 10 Secret Features of iOS 6Apple added text expansion to iOS 5, and it was awesome, letting you type in long usernames, addresses, and other text with just a few strokes on your keyboard. We showed you some essential shortcuts to set up, and now iOS 6 has made the feature even better, letting you sync it between your other iOS devices (like an iPod touch and an iPad)?along with your custom keyboard dictionary. To do so, you'll need an iCloud account. Then, just head to Settings > iCloud, and scroll down to Documents & Data. Tap it, flip the switch to On, and do the same on your other iOS 6 devices. Your custom dictionary and shortcuts should stay in sync between all your devices.

3. Launch Apps with Siri

Top 10 Secret Features of iOS 6Apple told us Siri got smarter in iOS 6, but they neglected to mention that she'd launch apps for you. All you have to do is activate Siri and then say the word "launch" plus the name of the app you want to open. While this may seem a little lazy, it's really useful if you have a bunch of apps and don't necessarily remember where they all are. You no longer need to search?Siri can do the work for you.

2. Archive or Delete Messages in Mail

Top 10 Secret Features of iOS 6A common Mail complaint among Gmail users has long been the need to choose between archiving and deleting a message. iOS just never provided a way to choose on the fly. Now you can. To do this, open a message, tap and hold the Archive button, and make your choice. The unfortunate reality is that you have to actually open the message to do this. You can't tap and hold the Archive button in list view to get these options. That said, it's a welcome improvement. We still prefer Sparrow, though.

1. Walking Directions in Maps

Top 10 Secret Features of iOS 6People are not happy with the new Maps app in iOS 6. It's full of problems. One of the major complaints is that it only provides driving directions, leaving walkers, bikers, and public transit users behind. The good news is that Apple didn't leave out these features entirely. In fact, walking directions are still available. To find them, just tap the bent arrow "directions" button in Maps and you'll see your recent destinations. From there, you can toggle between driving, walking, and public transit. Walking directions will work without issue. Public transit, on the other hand, will try to route you to another app (and fail, for now). Hopefully we'll see Apple improve Maps quickly and bring back these important, lost features. In the meantime, if this secret feature isn't enough to satisfy you then check out Lumatic. It might do the trick.

Usually bad credit results from failure to pay off your credit card bills on time. Everyone has to realize that once you have high debts on your credit card, and you can only afford to pay the minimum, you have to stop using them and start paying them down. Otherwise, watch your credit rating sink. There is one way to improve your credit, and that is through a debt consolidation loan.

From the proceeds of that loan, you pay off all of the credit cards, There are many types of debt consolidation loans. As a homeowner, you may want to consider an equity loan on your home in order to consolidate all of your other debt.

As with any financial decision, you should make sure you check all the facts completely on a debt consolidation loan. Make sure you understand the interest rate, the repayment terms and make sure that they are actually better than the situation you are in now.

One of the fastest and easiest ways to consolidate your debt is to do it online. There are those who are not familiar with the concept of debt consolidation loans, and may spend a lot of time and money searching all over for a good loan. Meanwhile, with the use of the internet, they could be searching hundreds, if not thousands of places that offer debt consolidation loans. And they never have to leave their desks.

If you have decided to consolidate your debt, there are plenty of sites to help you, and they are just a click away. verandah's roofing design | Home Improvement and Garden

veranda09 300x220 What Verandah?s Roofing Design Would You Like?Verandah of a house cannot be utilized to the maximum until it is roofed. Sitting under cool shade and enjoying evening breeze outside home is always pleasant which is not possible without a roof. However, many homeowners scare that their house may lose its beauty if they roof their verandah. Fortunately, with growing concern of home decorations, today we have plenty of verandahs roofing designs to match your home style. But, before you really come to the decision of choosing your verandahs roofing design, it is vital to achieve satisfaction out of your home extension. Regardless of what size, type and style you choose, it should be comfortable and perfectly blend with your home architecture or property. Here in this article we will discuss some popular roofing designs that homeowners love to prefer for their home.

Flat Style

This is the simplest design you can see anywhere, but in contrast it is the most versatile because you can accommodate your desires no matter what design and structure your house has. Also, you can adjust the position and shape of the shade according your idea. Flat shades don?t always have to be straight all the way. It can be curved at the edges depending on the structure of the house or features around.

Curved Style

Curve feature in home design provides a unique and an elegant look. While curved roof provides a different look if compared to flat one, it is beneficial in many terms. For instance, curve design provides more open space unlike flat design apart from offering shelter to guard from the sun.

Plus point with this design is that it can be combined with other types of verandahs roofing designs. If you have some extra space outside your home, you can break up the space by a combining two or three different types of styles. This is will add interest, plus include a focal point to the entire house structure.

Pergola Style

Usually, people think of pergola when they have to design and decorate their garden area. However, it can be a feasible solution for verandah also. This is an independent structure that not necessarily has to be attached with the house. It can keep the sheltered space airy and bright. The biggest advantage with these structures is that they are cheaper to build. Hence, it is a very good option for those having budget constraints.

Gazebo Style

Gazebo design is very similar to a wide cone, sometimes having flat sides and sometimes round. Number of sides depends on the type of design or choice of homeowners. It possesses a complex designing and takes more time to construct if compared to other designs yet it is more popular and preferred by people who really like to make their home extension like outdoor living space.

Gabled Style

This is like typical English house structure, means a pitched roof. It offers good ventilation by circulating air all over the verandah space and doesn?t let you feel like you are sitting in an enclosed or covered space. Placing a table and chair underneath gabled roof can make it look like a perfect outdoor living space.

Sunroof Style

Sometimes it is too hot to sit under bare sun and sometimes it is irresistible to avoid sun. Weather changes its faces many times a year, so if you want to enjoy every bit of it, sunroof style is the best choice for you. This shade style has louvers and allows you to open and close it whenever you need or want. Means, you can keep it open when weather is too hot and close when it is best weather outside.

This is Bert Ashton an avid content writer discusses about what kind of verandahs roofing design actually you like.
