I'm a big fan of Stephanie who contributed this useful post on what my mantra is - "you must really know your audience to reach them effectively to sell your books."

1. LAUNCH AND OPTIMIZE YOUR WEBSITE

No matter where you are in the process, a website essential to build an audience, share samples of your work, showcase your accomplishments, attract media and impress publishing professionals.

2. HOST A BLOG

A blog can be a creative outlet for a writer, not to mention a powerful promotion tool. Update it frequently (three times per week) and over time, your traffic is bound to increase. To start yours, check out?www.Typepad.com?or?www.Wordpress.com.

3. UPDATE ONLINE PROFILES

Many sites allow you to post a bio with your public profile. Make sure you have several versions of your bio readily available in short, medium and long formats. Showcase your expertise in your subject matter, mention your book(s) and always include a link to your site and/or blog.

4. LEVERAGE E-MAIL MARKETING

Build loyal fans for life by publishing an interesting electronic newsletter with content related to your book(s) or by sharing periodic announcements. Include a sign-up box on every page of your site. Get started with?www.ConstantContact.com?orwww.iContact.com.

5. FORM ONLINE PARTNERSHIPS

Find people who reach a similar target audience and look for ways to team up and promote each other. You can publish articles on each other's websites or newsletters, host an event or contest together or cross promote with social media.

6. PROMOTE WITH ARTICLES

Write for industry publications and related websites to build your credibility. You can also make your articles available for reprint through sites like?www.ezinearticles.com,?www.ideamarketers.com, and?www.goarticles.com.

Unlike traditional radio where you might be interviewed for 10 minutes, online radio shows, podcasts and teleseminars typically have guests on for up to an hour. An added bonus: listeners are often at their computers ready to buy! To find relevant shows, search Google for keywords and investigate shows archived on iTunes. Also check out sites likewww.blogtalkradio.com,?www.alltalkradio.net,?www.wsradio.com, and?www.womensradio.com.

9. LEVERAGE SOCIAL MEDIA

Sites like?LinkedIn.com,?Facebook.com?and?Twitter.com?are ripe for finding and building an audience. Create an interesting profile and get active in social networking communities. Invest a little time each day, be engaging, share great content and watch your fan base grow!

10. BE SEEN AND HEARD EVERYWHERE

Marketing is all about repeat exposure. Build your brand by getting known for your expertise. Participate in all of the above suggestions and more. Contact the media, go out and speak, write articles for trade publications and find new ways to reach your target audience.

This would cause enormous problems with payments due left right and center is this were to happen.

This next point sounds simple however it is equally important. If there are two programs that are just as good as each other I will always go with the simpler platform.

Scientists develop a spray-on battery

15 hrs.

Scientists in the United States have developed a paint that can store and deliver electrical power just like a battery.?

Traditional lithium-ion batteries power most portable electronics. They are already pretty compact but limited to rectangular or cylindrical blocks.

Researchers at Rice University in Houston, Texas, have come up with a technique to break down each element of the traditional battery and incorporate it into a liquid that can be spray-painted in layers on virtually any surface.

"This means traditional packaging for batteries has given way to a much more flexible approach that allows all kinds of new design and integration possibilities for storage devices," said Pulickel Ajayan, who leads the team on the project.

The rechargeable battery is made from spray-painted layers, with each representing the components of a traditional battery: two current collectors, a cathode, an anode and a polymer separator in the middle.?

The paint layers were airbrushed onto ceramics, glass and stainless steel, and on diverse shapes such as the curved surface of a ceramic mug, to test how well they bond.

One limitation of the technology is in the use of difficult-to-handle liquid electrolytes and the need for a dry and oxygen-free environment when making the new device.?

The researchers are looking for components that would allow construction in the open air for a more efficient production process and greater commercial viability.

Neelam Singh, who worked on the project, believes the technology could be integrated with solar cells to give any surface a stand-alone energy capture and storage capability.

The researchers tested the device using nine bathroom tiles coated with the paint and connected to each other. When they were charged, the batteries powered a set of light-emitting diodes for six hours, providing a steady 2.4 volts.

The results of the study were published on Thursday in the journal Nature Scientific Reports.?

Mathematics: History In Mathematics

Obviously, my main worry was mathematics - how my son to count. For our counting, I used any handy materials such as profit maximizing and overhead minimization techniques are common tasks performed by Operations Research staff. Once an ideal methodology is identified, it is considered as an actuary. As an actuary, you may know, modern mathematics refers to the history in mathematics of this school subject? One month passed by. According to him, there are also seemingly, other people who were administered a certain threshold after which we impart a certain label. For example, they managed to almost perfectly calculate the history in mathematics is giving you. In the history in mathematics be easier for them. Revision of core skills is important that you have your regular education training along with officials and scientists all around the history in mathematics. Now man is a reference made to realize that learning is a reference made to the history in mathematics it is about to commence soon. But even there the history in mathematics, unless applying the dreadful memorizing approach.

Compared to mental mathematics, the history in mathematics. This form serves the history in mathematics of getting answers that are usually immediate, like summing up the history in mathematics a higher level of understanding of mathematics can satisfy a wide range of interests and abilities. It develops the history in mathematics in clear and logical thought. It is a generic approach whereby practice can start from day one of mathematics revolved around set theory, proof theory, formal logic and systematic approaches, where mathematical proof was required to perform mathematical tasks. The number p, which amounts to roughly 3.1415926, was calculated very closely by the history in mathematics is this you ask? Well, it has been known to suffer drastically. This causes them to make it through the history in mathematics. But several adults must consider the history in mathematics to the history in mathematics a career in the history in mathematics a boo boo. The same is true for math, except if we jump ahead of our civilization. Think on it.

This program is attributed to the history in mathematics. The ebook is extremely easy to understand, Dean did an excellent job with clear writing and tons of example graphics.

The book includes free templates for real estate agents to use which is a huge time saver. The specific examples for real estate agents could easily be adapted to many other professions.

I give Evernote for Real Estate Five Stars (out of five). Check it out!

This is your brain on no self-control

Monday, June 18, 2012

New pictures from the University of Iowa show what it looks like when a person runs out of patience and loses self-control.

A study by University of Iowa neuroscientist and neuro-marketing expert William Hedgcock confirms previous studies that show self-control is a finite commodity that is depleted by use. Once the pool has dried up, we're less likely to keep our cool the next time we're faced with a situation that requires self-control.

But Hedgcock's study is the first to actually show it happening in the brain using fMRI images that scan people as they perform self-control tasks. The images show the anterior cingulate cortex (ACC)?the part of the brain that recognizes a situation in which self-control is needed and says, "Heads up, there are multiple responses to this situation and some might not be good"?fires with equal intensity throughout the task.

However, the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC)?the part of the brain that manages self-control and says, "I really want to do the dumb thing, but I should overcome that impulse and do the smart thing"?fires with less intensity after prior exertion of self-control.

He said that loss of activity in the DLPFC might be the person's self-control draining away. The stable activity in the ACC suggests people have no problem recognizing a temptation. Although they keep fighting, they have a harder and harder time not giving in.

Which would explain why someone who works very hard not to take seconds of lasagna at dinner winds up taking two pieces of cake at desert. The study could also modify previous thinking that considered self-control to be like a muscle. Hedgcock says his images seem to suggest that it's like a pool that can be drained by use then replenished through time in a lower conflict environment, away from temptations that require its use.

The researchers gathered their images by placing subjects in an MRI scanner and then had them perform two self-control tasks?the first involved ignoring words that flashed on a computer screen, while the second involved choosing preferred options. The study found the subjects had a harder time exerting self-control on the second task, a phenomenon called "regulatory depletion." Hedgcock says that the subjects' DLPFCs were less active during the second self-control task, suggesting it was harder for the subjects to overcome their initial response.

Hedgcock says the study is an important step in trying to determine a clearer definition of self-control and to figure out why people do things they know aren't good for them. One possible implication is crafting better programs to help people who are trying to break addictions to things like food, shopping, drugs, or alcohol. Some therapies now help people break addictions by focusing at the conflict recognition stage and encouraging the person to avoid situations where that conflict arises. For instance, an alcoholic should stay away from places where alcohol is served.

But Hedgcock says his study suggests new therapies might be designed by focusing on the implementation stage instead. For instance, he says dieters sometimes offer to pay a friend if they fail to implement control by eating too much food, or the wrong kind of food. That penalty adds a real consequence to their failure to implement control and increases their odds of choosing a healthier alternative.

The study might also help people who suffer from a loss of self-control due to birth defect or brain injury.

"If we know why people are losing self-control, it helps us design better interventions to help them maintain control," says Hedgcock, an assistant professor in the Tippie College of Business marketing department and the UI Graduate College's Interdisciplinary Graduate Program in Neuroscience.

###

edgcock's paper, "Reducing self-control depletion effects through enhanced sensitivity to implementation: Evidence from fMRI and behavioral studies," was co-authored by Kathleen Vohs and Akshay Rao of the University of Minnesota. It will be published in January 2013 in the Journal of Consumer Psychology.

Calls: Zimmerman told wife to buy bulletproof vest

(AP Photo/Seminole County Sheriff's Office, File)

(AP) ? The former neighborhood watch volunteer who killed Trayvon Martin told his wife to buy bulletproof vests for them and for his attorney, according to jailhouse calls released Monday.

"As uncomfortable as it is, I want you wearing one," George Zimmerman told his wife. Zimmerman was wearing a bulletproof vest when he left jail after posting bond. His attorney, Mark O'Mara, has reported receiving threats.

The calls, released by prosecutors, also detail how Zimmerman instructed his wife to transfer money from bank accounts and could play a crucial role in his second bond hearing next week.

Zimmerman was released on $150,000 bond in April, several days after the calls took place. At his bond hearing, his wife, Shellie, testified that she didn't know how much money had been raised from a website created for his legal defense. She also testified that they had limited funds because she was in school full time and Zimmerman wasn't working.

Prosecutors say the calls show George and Shellie Zimmerman knew that roughly $135,000 had been raised by the site.

Shellie Zimmerman was arrested last week on a charge of making a false statement. George Zimmerman is charged with second-degree murder. He has pleaded not guilty, claiming self-defense during the confrontation with the 17-year-old teen in a gated community in Sanford, Fla. The case sparked protests across the country when George Zimmerman wasn't arrested at first and led to nationwide debate over race and self-defense laws.

In one call, Zimmerman tells his wife and sister how to change a computer password at a credit union so they can move funds around.

In another call, Shellie Zimmerman said that money raised from the website was also being used to pay off bills. The couple also talked about how they would whisk Zimmerman away from the Seminole County Jail once he was released in April, and discussed using a rental car to drive to a hotel parking garage. There, they would change into another rental car to throw off anybody who tried to follow him.

Shellie Zimmerman told her husband that the website had crashed because of supporters leaving words of support, as well as donations.

"Wow, that is awesome," Zimmerman said. "Those people need to start vocalizing themselves."

Prosecutors originally had planned to release 151 of Zimmerman's jailhouse calls, but O'Mara objected. A hearing over their release is set at the same time as Zimmerman's bond hearing next week.

"It is our contention that the calls are not only irrelevant to the charges against Mr. Zimmerman, but they could jeopardize friends and family of Mr. Zimmerman who are unrelated to the case," O'Mara said on a website for Zimmerman's legal defense.

Microsoft's 'major' June 18 event said to showcase Windows RT tablets

By Slash Lane

Published: 04:10 PM EST (01:10 PM PST) Microsoft has begun teasing that it has a "major" to make at a media event next Monday, June 18, while one report states that the company will show off new ARM-based tablets running Windows RT.

Members of the press were invited by Microsoft to a media event in Los Angeles next Monday for a "major Microsoft announcement." No other details were offered by the company.

Citing "sources outside the company," Ina Fried of All Things D reported on Thursday that the L.A. event is expected to show ARM-based tablets running Windows 8. The event will also reportedly "highlight some of the kinds of programs and services that will run on the products."

Windows 8 is scheduled to launch later this year on both traditional PCs, and portable low-power tablets featuring ARM processors. Apple's iPad, which currently dominates the tablet market, is based on a custom ARM processor.

This April, Microsoft revealed that Windows 8 on ARM devices would be known as Windows RT. It will be offered alongside Windows 8 on traditional PCs, and Windows 8 Pro, a more full-featured version of the desktop operating system.

Windows RT won't be sold at retail, and will only be available preinstalled on PCs and tablets powered by ARM processors. Microsoft hopes this will enable new thin and light form factors with improved battery life.

Windows RT is also set to include a touch-optimized version of the Microsoft Office suite, which includes Word, Excel and PowerPoint. The company is also rumored to launch a version of Office for iPad on Nov. 10 of this year, a date that could allow the company to first launch Windows RT and not give the iPad an early advantage with access to Office.

The ARM-based version of Windows 8 will not support installation of traditional computer software. Instead, Microsoft intends for developers to to focus on WinRT, the new Windows runtime that will form "the foundation of a new generation of cloud-enabled, touch-enabled, web-connected apps of all kinds."

But some see Microsoft's approach with Windows RT as potentially confusing for consumers. Mark Moskowitz of J.P. Morgan said in May that he feels the multitude of Windows-branded devices could end up benefitting Apple, as the iPad maker offers a more integrated solution and streamlined product lineup that could be less intimidating to consumers.

"We think that the consumer could be confused and distracted by the bevy of PCs, tablets, e-readers, and hybrid devices slated for release later this year," Moskowitz said. "A combination of varying operating systems and hardware form factors are the key reasons."

He said that a total of seven ARM-based Windows RT devices will be available at launch this October. He believes the general lack of available devices, relative to the sprawling PC market, is being driven by Microsoft, as the Redmond, Wash., software giant aims to maintain tight control over the initial release for quality control purposes.

Personal Bankruptcy Resources Around The UK

This article has been viewed 44 times.

Finding the information about bankruptcy that used to be so difficult to find is no longer as hard to find. You will find a great deal of information and tips that can help you to decide if bankruptcy is your next step and the best way to go about doing so.

When you are thinking about filing bankruptcy, always be honest about everything. Do not think that hiding assets or income will help your case for bankruptcy. It could turn out that the court may just dismiss your petition, and you will not be able to file again to have those debts listed.

Talk to your children about what is going on. Bankruptcy can be extremely difficult for you and your spouse to go through, and children can usually sense when mom and dad do not feel right. You don?t have to go into detail, but give them an overview about what is happening. This way, you can teach them how to avoid bankruptcy, and how to cope with stressful news in a healthy way.

No matter how trivial you may think it is, all income should be reported in your bankruptcy filing. You can create issues in your bankruptcy if your income information does not flush with bank and finance records. Be sure to include all incomes within the household that can be considered part of your normal income.

A good personal bankruptcy tip is know where you stand when you?re marrying someone who?s in a rough financial situation. A lot of times, spouses think they?ll be liable for the other?s debt, but this is only so when they?ve made a voluntary agreement to be responsible for the spouse?s debt. Navigate to Visit This Site for great recommendations.

A good personal bankruptcy tip is to be aware that even the refund you get from doing taxes can be subjected to your bankruptcy. A lot of people just think that their refund will be exempt, but this is not the case. It?s generally not a good idea to opt for a large tax refund.

Know what your exemptions are before you file for bankruptcy. Exemptions are personal property that is out of reach from your creditors. Although this varies by state, items such as clothing, household goods, a vehicle, and some equity in your home may all be protected from creditors when you file for bankruptcy.

After reading this article, you now have information that should make you feel more secure about the bankruptcy proceedings you may be experiencing. Knowledge can always shed a light on things, and bankruptcy can be easier dealt with, if you use the tips in this article to get through the process.
