Investing in UNC Kenan-Flagler ? IMPACT

December 20, 2012 By unc kenan-flagler

Kenan Flagler aerial.176As 2012 comes to a close, we would like to thank everyone who is a part of the Kenan-Flagler community for your association with and commitment to Carolina?s premier business school. Because of you, UNC Kenan-Flagler is a leading global business school recognized for extraordinary learning experiences and innovative research. Our alumni are known for their principled leadership and effective managerial skills, and our faculty are known for their excellence in teaching and cutting-edge research that influences business leaders, academics and policy makers in North Carolina and beyond.

None of this would be possible without the foresight and generosity of those who came before us?University leaders who saw the value in combining a liberal arts education with practical training in business principals, and benefactors who saw the value in bolstering that investment. Since state appropriations and tuition fund less than 40 percent of our annual operating budget, it is important to note that 20 percent of our revenue comes from alumni and friends of the business school who choose to invest in this community of students and educators who are dedicated to creating an environment of integrity and academic excellence at UNC Kenan-Flagler.

Nearly 75 percent of private gifts to the school directly support student fellowships, faculty professorships, the undergraduate and graduate degree programs, and every academic area. These gifts also support career management services for students and alumni, student and faculty research initiatives, study abroad opportunities, technology upgrades, alumni speakers and special events, and facility improvements. Regardless of size?ALL gifts have an immediate and tangible impact on our students and faculty and the lasting value of a business degree from UNC.

If you have already made a gift to UNC Kenan-Flagler this year, we thank you for your support. If you have not, please consider doing so by December 31. Please know that all gifts must be postmarked by December 31 to qualify for a 2012 tax deduction. Donors may make a secure credit card gift online until 11:59 p.m. on December 31. Please contact Kara Kooken, director of annual giving, if you have any questions of concerns.

Thank you for your support and best wishes for a happy, healthy and prosperous 2013.
